- usually single but may be multilocular

- upper lobes and apical segment of lower lobes
- usually surrounded by consolidation +/- fibrosis
aspiration
- look for foreign body
other
- Gram negative organisms
- actinomycosis
- aspergillosis
- hydatid
- amoebiasis
- histoplasmosis
