Shunt malfunction
  • kinking, interruption, occlussion
Infection, ventriculitis

Abdominal complications

  • exit from peritoneal cavity with growth, through processus vaginalis to scrotum
  • ascites
  • CSFoma
    • mass effect exhibited on bowel gas pattern with malfunctioning shunt
    • lack of movement of shunt tip with positional or temporal change
  • bowel obstruction
  • perforation of hollow viscus (e.g., bowel or bladder)
