effects of bilateral vagotomy (cholinergic denervation):
  1. decreased motility of stomach and intestine
  2. decreased gastric secretions
  3. decreased tone of gallbladder and bile ducts
  4. increased tone of sphincters (Oddi and lower esophageal sphincter)
