acute spinal cord compression


Signs and symptoms of cord compression show progression within 24 hours or less:
  • pain
  • weakness
  • autonomic dysfunction
  • sensory loss
  • ataxia

Diagnostic considerations:
  • Primary or secondary malignancy of epidural space or vertebrae
  • Trauma
  • Inflammatory process
  • Osteoarthritis
