slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE)
- boys > girls
- age 10 - 15 yrs
- blacks > whites (unlike CHD + Legg-Perthes disease)
- related to height, weight, athletic activity
- if BILATERAL ==> renal osteodystrophy
- femoral epiphysis slips POSTERIORLY and MEDIALLY
- use frog-leg + lateral projections
- complications:
- AVN
- acute cartilage necrosis (chondrolysis)
- varus deformity
