adrenal hemorrhage


neonate
  • RIGHT more common, 10% bilateral
  • birth trauma
  • hypoxia
  • septicemia
  • congenital syphilis
  • hemorrhagic disorders (hemophilia, etc.)

adult Notes:
  • usually resolves in 4-6 wks
  • adrenal insufficiency rare, even if bilat.
  • may calcify
