cholesterolosis
type of hyperplastic cholecystosis
- abnormal deposits of cholesterol esters in macrophages within lamina
propria (foam cells) and in mucous epithelium
strawberry gallbladder = lipid cholecystitis = cholesterosis
- seedlike patchy/diffuse thickening
- a/w cholesterol gallstones in 50-70%
- not related to serum cholesterol
- radiologically not demonstrable
cholesterol polyp
- multiple small filling defects <10mm in diameter
- most common fixed filling defect of gall bladder
- location: usually middle 1/3 of gallbladder
