criteria:
  • portal vein >13mm (57% sensitivity, 100% specificity)
  • SMV + splenic vein >10 mm
  • coronary vein >4mm
  • recanalized umbilical vein >3mm (Cruveilhier-von Baumgarten syndrome)

  • loss of respiratory increase of splanchnic vein diameter (80% sensitivity, 100% specificity)
  • esophageal, gastric, sigmoid, rectal varices
  • hepatofugal venous flow (82% sensitivity, 100% specificity)
  • cavernous transformation of portal vein
  • increased echogenicity and thickening of portal vein

  • splenomegaly
  • ascites
