emphysematous gastritis


rare but severe form of widespread phlegmonous gastritis secondary to X-ray:
  • linear small gas bubbles within grossly thickened wall
  • may be associated with gas in the portal vein

prognosis:
  • leads to cicatrical stenosis
  • 60-80% mortality
