  • 15-20% of all brain tumors (2nd to gliomas)
  • F > M

  • most often detected in middle age
    those detected earlier are:
    • in unusual locations
    • often associated with neurofibromatosis
    • more often malignant

      sites:
    • 90% supratentorial
    • 33-50% parasagittal

              convexity               foramen magnum
              sphenoid wing           middle cranial fossa
              olfactory groove        torcular Herophili
              tuberculum sellae       falx
              petrous ridge           ventricles
