amiodarone


antiarrhythmic drug

  • can cause lung disease

    symptoms:

    • dyspnea, cough, fever, pleuritis

    HRCT findings:
    • predominantly peripheral, interstitial and alveolar infiltrates
    • patchy upper-lobe consolidation and pleural effusion -- occasionally
    • consolidated lung can have very high density due to iodine.

    • DDx: infectious pneumonitis, CHF

  • also causes dense liver due to iodine content
