Takayasu arteritis

a/k/a: giant cell arteritis, aortic arch syndrome, "pulseless disease"

  • thickening of wall of aortic arch + thoracic aorta
  • chronic obliterative arteritis of subclavian + carotid arteries
  • diminished pulses in upper extremities

  • may ==> rib notching
