  • mucosal gastric tear
  • only 10% are purely esophageal:
    • most are at GE junction or proximal stomach

  • M > F, associated with retching, EtOH
  • massive hematemesis, abd pain

  • Dx: endoscopy
  • Rx: IA vasopressin
